Activity #3

Kamo Aquarium is known for a large number of jellyfish in Yamagata. It is listed in the Guinness Book of World Records housing the most jellyfish species. Kamo Aquarium is loved by the nickname “The Dream House of Jellies”. They believe they must transmit the richness of the sea and the culture of the people of the sea. That is the reason why many people love Kamo Aquarium. I am also one who likes jellyfish, and I had been dreaming of visiting there. On April 26 and 27, I visited Yamagata on a trip, and I stayed at SUIDEN TERASSE in Shonai. I finally could go to Kamo Aquarium at that time. I enjoyed seeing many kinds of jellyfish. One that most attracted me is Mastigias Papua. They are bright blue reflecting the ocean’s calm feeling. I was drawn by its beautiful blue and cute shape. It is like a balloon in the sky, and I love the way they move. Since I watched the movie “Ponyo on a Cliff by the Sea”, my heart was taken by the mysterious world beneath the ocean surface, especially the jellies. A taxi driver told me that the staff of Kamo Aquarium are passionate, and they still try to expand the jellyfish corner. He said that the staff went abroad to research jellyfish. I was surprised that they are still in progress as jellyfish houses. This is because there are already a lot of jellies as listed in the Guinness Book. Kamo aquarium has other creatures as well. One other sea animal that I was attracted to is a seal. When I was in front of the seal, they stared at me and that was the happiest moment because they were so cute. I felt like they knew their cuteness and they appealed to me how adorable they are. I was fascinated by Seal as they intended. They appealed with adorable eyes, and they were like dancing in front of me. I want to visit there again to see them. I spent two days in Yamagata, but the aquarium visit was the most memorable moment for me. I enjoyed my trip full of great experiences and a warm atmosphere.
