The problem in my hometown

My hometown, Yamanashi Prefecture, shares Mt. Fuji with Shizuoka Pref. It has many beautiful sights. However, some problems are difficult to solve. One of them is the number of elderly drivers.

Have you ever seen this mark? It is an elderly driver’s mark, which means an elderly person is driving this car. You can see cars with this mark a lot in this area.

There are not so many job opportunities in my hometown, as it is not a “city”. Many younger people prefer to move out to get better jobs or a higher salary. It causes people over 65 years old to live by themselves without their children or relatives. They do not have anyone whom they can rely on, and they must drive by themselves to go farther away.

These are several photos around my house. As you can see, there is no sidewalk, no traffic light, and no center lines. Also, there are some unclear intersections, like photo #4.

Plus, this street is so narrow and straight, so the more drivers are used to driving, the easier they can drive fast or be distracted by something else. As photo #3 shows, elderly people around my housework as farmers in those farms, so they should drive cars by themselves to go to work.

These three are photos of the nearest bus station to my house. Photo #8 is the timetable of the bus. It says there is only one bus at 7:06 am to go to the station -it is 15 minutes away by car- and only one at 6:47 pm to come back here. Can you imagine how inconvenient it is? I used to take a train from the station when I was a high school student. However, I have never taken buses from there due to their uselessness. It would be the same for elderly people who live around here. They cannot commute unless they have their cars or someone who can drive them.

The reason why this situation has not changed is the lack of money and the lack of people who live around here and use public transportation. This is the problem of a beautiful and peaceful city in Yamanashi.

Daifuku

My dog’s name is Daifuku. When he first came to our house, my family happened to be eating daifuku, a traditional Japanese sweet. We thought the name “Daifuku” sounded cute and memorable, so we decided to name him after it. Since that day, he has become an important part of my daily life.

This photo story follows Daifuku’s daily routine and shows how he spends his day with me.

In the morning, Daifuku wakes up next to me. We sleep in the same bed, and being together makes both of us feel calm and relaxed. This quiet moment in the morning is one of my favorite parts of the day.

After waking up, we go for a walk, or “sanpo.” This is the first activity of the day and helps refresh my mind. Walking with Daifuku in the fresh air makes me feel closer to nature. He also looks very happy as he explores the surroundings and smells everything along the way.

After the walk, Daifuku eats his breakfast. He eats very quickly because he seems to think someone might take his food. This moment is important for his health, as it helps him grow strong and stay energetic.

Later, he goes outside to play with his dog friends. This is one of the most exciting parts of his day. He runs around energetically and often greets other dogs by smelling them. Watching him play freely makes me realize how important social interaction is for him.

After playing, he comes back home and takes a short nap. He is usually very tired after running so much, so he rests quietly. This peaceful time contrasts with his active moments outside.

In the evening, after the sun sets, we sometimes go for another walk. The weather is cooler and more comfortable, and there are fewer people in the park. This allows Daifuku to play more freely without distractions.

At the end of the day, Daifuku sleeps with me again. He especially loves sleeping on the futon. Sharing these moments with him makes me feel happy and relaxed, and it reminds me how special our bond is

Annual event; JRA Horse Show

I always go to JRA horse show during Golden Week. It’s an annual event. It’s a festival of equestrian show jumping and there are many shops which sells goods of horse riding and supplements for horses. I am also a horse rider, so I am really excited for this event every year. It lasts 3 days during golden week. This year, i was able to join it only on the first day, but i was able to see the 150 cm jumping competition and bought some clothes for horse riding. At lunch time, I bought a tomato sauce panini at one of the kichen cars and i watched the competition while I was eating it. Although it was sunny and not that hot, it was not ideal day for show jumping, because it was very windy (horses are very sensitive), but every horse and rider were able to finish without any injuries, so it was pretty nice day.

Every time I see a show jumping competition, i get really emotional, because i know how hard show jumping is. It looks like horses obeyed every riders’ instructions without rebellion, but it is not. Horses are animal. They have thoughts and hearts like human do. Also, it is usually said that horse is a mirror of rider. Riders must be calm in any situations. You shouldn’t be nervous in competition, because your tention will convey to your horse and your horse will get nervous too. Horse is much bigger than human, needless to say. They can hurm us (which means they have power to do that. I am not saying that they are violent). That’s why, we, riders, must be calm and let our horses follow our directions.

I believe that horse riding is one of the most beautiful sports in the world and this event made my day.

A Day During Golden Week in Kamakura

On May 4th, during Golden Week, my friends and I decided to spend a day in Kamakura. Since everyone wanted to sleep in, we planned to meet at Kamakura Station at 1:00 p.m. Even though it was a late start, one of my friends, Emiri, still arrived three minutes late. I hadn’t planned to take a photo at that moment, but it felt like a small but memorable part of the day, so I captured it anyway.

None of us had eaten lunch yet, so we headed to Komachi Street to try some local street food. The street was crowded and full of energy, with tourists and locals enjoying the holiday atmosphere. We stopped by a small shop to eat dango and later bought crepes. The colorful food and lively surroundings made everything feel exciting. Walking, talking, and eating together created a relaxed and happy mood, which became one of my favorite parts of the day.

After that, we visited Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine to pray. The shrine was beautiful, but because it was Golden Week, it was extremely crowded. There were long lines of people, and the space felt busy and overwhelming. In addition, the wind was very strong, which made it difficult to stay outside comfortably. Even so, the experience of visiting such a traditional place gave us a chance to feel a different side of Kamakura.

Eventually, we started to feel tired and decided to leave Kamakura earlier than planned, around 3:00 p.m. Instead, we went to a shopping mall in Yokohama. There, we had a late but satisfying meal at a restaurant called “Gohan Susumu.” After spending hours walking outside in the crowd and wind, sitting down and enjoying a warm, proper meal felt especially comforting and relaxing.

Although our time in Kamakura was shorter than expected, it still became a memorable day.

Topic: DIY Community Spirit: Renovating “Futako Beer Seta Brewery

I had answered a call for volunteers at “Futako Beer Seta Brewery” (also known as Mugi-Mugi), a local craft beer tapestry room. The deal was simple but irresistible: our labor in exchange for all-you-can-drink high-end craft beer, usually priced at 1,000 yen a glass. It was an opportunity to build community and enjoy premium brews simultaneously. While the main storefront was operational, the crucial backroom area—destined for storage and administration—was a chaotic work-in-progress, demanding immediate attention.

My day began with a series of Wide Shots to capture the scale of the task The entire room was covered in protective plastic sheets. It was a bustling scene of DIY renovation, with volunteers scattered across the space, attacking different projects. I was soon joined by other community members, and we quickly self-organized into teams. Our main objectives for the day were to install new energy-efficient light bulbs, assemble heavy-duty storage shelving, and apply a vibrant, welcoming coat of paint to the raw wooden walls. We were all amateurs, but the shared purpose made the work efficient.

By midday, our focus shifted from construction to painting. a Medium Shot shows myself and another volunteer carefully preparing a vivid yellow paint mix. We concentrated on transforming a large section of the back wall. The process required coordination; one person would cut in the edges with a brush while the other followed with a roller to ensure even coverage. As we worked, the atmosphere warmed, fueled by mutual encouragement and the anticipation of the reward. We were also treated to an incredible mid-day snack: savory, glazed meat dumplings. Eating them while surrounded by the ongoing work was a highlight, the rich flavor perfectly complementing the energy of the room.

However, the reality of DIY work soon became apparent, especially for one of my friends. An awkward angle and a loaded roller resulted in him being completely covered in yellow paint speckles, particularly on his black pants . While he was initially sheepish, we decided to turn his misfortune into a bonding experience. Instead of cleaning the pants, we all grabbed brushes and added our own artistic splashes, transforming them into a collaborative “paint pants” project. This act of spontaneous fun solidified our team spirit and made the hard work memorable.

The renovation effort continued into the early evening, concluding with the final assembly of the shelving units. Wide Shot shows two volunteers finalizing the measurements and securing the shelves against the now-bright yellow wall, a significant transformation from the morning. Exhausted but satisfied, we cleaned up and began our journey home. Our day ended not at the brewery, but on a relaxed walk nearby, captured in the final photo. Following our brewery session, my friend enjoyed a perfect reward: a burger from a local McDonald’s in one hand and a final, satisfying brewery beer in the other. This visual story, from chaotic start to rewarding finish, perfectly encapsulates the rewarding experience of community support for local businesses.

A Path Toward the Park

Sometimes I suddenly want to escape from noise and people. Not because I hate them, but because my head becomes too full. On that day, I walked toward the park without really thinking about anything. The air was warm, and sunlight was falling through the trees little by little.

At the beginning of the road, everything felt quiet. The path was covered by shadows, and the trees were standing silently around me. I could hear small sounds of leaves moving in the wind. The curved road made me feel like I was slowly leaving the normal world behind. I think there are moments when silence feels more comfortable than words.

As I kept walking, the green color became deeper and brighter. Looking up at the trees, I felt strangely small, but also relaxed. The sunlight coming through the branches looked soft, almost like water. Nothing dramatic was happening there, but somehow the place felt alive. I stopped for a moment and just watched the leaves moving above me.

After that, the atmosphere slowly changed. The quiet feeling disappeared little by little, and voices started to mix with the sound of the wind. Children were running, people were talking, and the park was full of movement and life. It felt warm in a different way.

This walk was only a few minutes long, but it reminded me that emotions can change slowly through places and scenery. Sometimes, a simple path surrounded by trees can gently guide someone from loneliness into the presence of others.

Green Island: The Forgotten Gray-Toned Coast

When I first arrived on Green Island, the weather was not as sunny as I had expected. Standing on the hill at the Grassland, I looked out and saw the sky and the sea blending into a grayish white. The tourists in the distance appeared very small, almost impossible to see clearly. This sense of openness suddenly made the island feel very quiet. Without the usual lively atmosphere of a tourist spot, it instead allowed me to calm down and observe the land in its more original state.

As I walked down the slope toward the coast, I was drawn to the black volcanic rocks. In the photos, even under the cloudy sky, the seawater still showed a very clean shade of green, creating a strong contrast with the sharp, dark rocks. The wind was strong, and the waves kept crashing against the shore. It felt like this was the most real and powerful side of Green Island, not just the typical bright blue sky and ocean view people often imagine.

Finally, I tried crouching down to take a closer look at the rocks wet from the waves. I captured small tide pools, where the sky was reflected on the surface, along with subtle moss and the textures of the rocks nearby. Normally, we walk quickly and might not notice these small details beneath our feet. This time, I chose to document another side of Green Island under cloudy and rainy weather. In the past, when I thought of traveling to offshore islands, I always imagined sunshine and clear blue seas. But during this shoot, I realized that this gray and cool-toned version of Green Island feels fuller of stories.

My GW shopping

On the morning of the 5th, my family woke me up and told me to get ready quickly because we were going shopping. I got dressed, fixed my hair, and got in the car. We headed to Koshigaya Lake Town, which is about a 30-minute drive from home. Since it was Golden Week, we got stuck in traffic, and the drive took about 50 minutes that day.

The weather was surprisingly nice, with a feel of summer in the air. My main goal this time was the outlet mall. There are lots of discounted items there, and I always buy clothes and shoes there.

I was also really looking forward to the newly renovated Levi’s store. I’m a big Levi’s fan, and I often buy rare-patterned pants there that are leftover stock from the main stores.

However, I didn’t find any pants that I fell in love with at first sight this time, so I just bought a new T-shirt for the summer. You’ll have to wait until I wear them to university to find out what I bought.

I went into the Ralph Lauren store located below Levi’s and was walking around, and felt that “Are things really this expensive even at an outlet?” Then, almost hidden in the corner of the store, I discovered blue corduroy pants on sale for 70% off. Since I hadn’t found any good pants at Levi’s, I couldn’t help but buy them. However, since Ralph Lauren items are expensive to begin with, even at 70% off, they still cost 9,000 yen, so I regretted spending too much money.

After finishing my shopping, I took a break to rest my tired legs while looking out at the lake in Lake Town, and the view was so beautiful and soothing that I forgot all about my regrets.

Title: A refreshing Golden Week trip

During Golden Week, I went on a road trip with my friends and spent two relaxing days in nature. It was a refreshing break from our busy university lives and from constantly looking at our phones.

On the first day, we visited Okutama. First, we went to a popular local restaurant and had mountain vegetables and tempura for lunch. The food tasted fresh and delicious, and it gave us energy for the rest of the day. After eating, we walked through a nearby forest. We crossed small bridges, saw beautiful waterfalls, and watched the clear river flowing beneath us. The weather was sunny, and the sounds of insects and running water made the atmosphere peaceful and relaxing. Surrounded by nature, I felt refreshed both physically and mentally.

In the afternoon, we drove for about forty-five minutes to Nippara Limestone Cave. As soon as we entered the cave, the temperature suddenly became much colder. From the outside, I could not imagine how huge the cave would be inside. The cave was spacious and mysterious, and the illuminated stalactites looked magical. It felt as if we had entered a completely different world. Walking through the narrow paths and looking at the unique rock formations was an unforgettable experience.

On the second day, we visited Chichibu Fureai Farm in Chichibu. At first, we mainly wanted to try the farm’s famous soft-serve ice cream, but interacting with the goats became the most memorable part of the visit. Before going there, I had an image that goats were smelly and aggressive. However, the goats at this farm were surprisingly calm and clean. Some baby goats even allowed us to touch them. Their fur was soft and fluffy, and I could not stop petting them. Spending time with the animals made me feel warm and happy.

This two-day trip reminded me of the importance of spending time in nature. By staying away from my smartphone and enjoying the scenery, sounds, and animals around me, I was able to relax and refresh my mind. It became one of the most memorable experiences of my Golden Week.

Golden Week in Shanghai: My Comeback Trip

This Golden Week, I flew back from Japan to Shanghai.

My journey began at the airport, where I boarded a China Eastern flight bound for Shanghai. As the plane took off, I watched Yokohama’s skyline fade below, already buzzing with excitement for what lay ahead.

After landing, I wasted no time diving into the city’s iconic flavors. My first meal was a box of piping hot shengjianbao—crispy at the bottom, juicy inside, and topped with sesame seeds, the perfect taste of Shanghai. Later, I stopped by the IG&WIT Anime Studio Store, a must-visit spot for anime fans, where I got to see merch from some of my favorite series.

The fun continued with a Pokémon pop-up event, where a giant Sprigatito balloon stood tall in the mall, drawing crowds of all ages. It was impossible to walk past without snapping a photo with the adorable grass-type starter. That evening, I treated myself to a rich chocolate gelato from Venchi, the perfect sweet treat to end the day.

As night fell, I wandered down Huaihai Road, where the Apple Store’s colorful LED facade lit up the busy street. The neon lights, the hum of traffic, and the energy of the city made me fall in love with Shanghai all over again.

This trip was more than just a vacation—it was a chance to reconnect with the city I love, one delicious bite and fun stop at a time.

Golden Week is one of the most exciting holidays in Japan, and this year I spent it traveling around the Kansai region. During the trip, I visited famous shrines, traditional streets, local shops, and popular tourist attractions in Kyoto and Osaka. What impressed me the most was how Kansai combines old traditions with modern entertainment. Even within one day, the atmosphere could completely change from quiet and peaceful to energetic and crowded.

Walking through Kyoto, I noticed the strong feeling of history everywhere. Wooden buildings, stone paths, and rows of lanterns created a calm atmosphere that felt very different from the busy city life. At night, the shrines became even more beautiful because of the soft lights from the lanterns. The streets nearby were filled with small shops selling souvenirs, snacks, and seasonal products. Many tourists stopped to take pictures, while local people quietly continued their daily routines. This mixture of tourism and tradition made the area feel alive but still authentic.

Another thing I enjoyed was observing the details of the architecture and decorations. The shrines were carefully designed with dark wooden structures, hanging lanterns, and natural surroundings such as trees and gravel paths. The sunlight during the daytime created soft shadows, while the evening lights added a warmer and more mysterious feeling. Using natural light helped me capture the real atmosphere of each location without making the scenes feel artificial.

The trip also showed me a completely different side of Kansai through modern entertainment spaces. Compared with the quiet temples and historical streets, the amusement areas were colorful, loud, and full of excitement. Bright decorations, playful designs, and large crowds created an energetic mood that contrasted strongly with the peaceful shrine environments. However, both traditional and modern places attracted people from different backgrounds and became spaces where visitors could create special memories together.

Overall, this journey helped me understand why Kansai is such a popular destination. It is not only a place of history and culture, but also a place full of creativity and entertainment. Through these photographs, I wanted to capture the different moods of the trip and show how one region can contain many different experiences at the same time.

Ebina City, Kanagawa Prefecture, where I live, is a city of approximately 140,000 people located in the center of the prefecture.

It is a city well known for the Ebina Service Area. Three train lines run through the city, providing quick access to major cities such as Yokohama and Tokyo. The area around the station is lined with numerous commercial facilities, such as LaLaport, so you can find just about everything you need simply by heading out to the station. While the abundance of commercial facilities and convenient transportation are considered advantages, the city is also rich in nature and offers a peaceful place to live. As you move away from the station, rows of rice paddies appear, allowing you to enjoy lush green scenery. The city also offers easy access to the Shonan and Oyama areas, making it feel as though nature is right at your doorstep.

However, I feel that this natural richness is gradually being lost due to population growth. Large commercial complexes and high-rise apartment buildings are springing up where rice paddies once stood, and the landscape is rapidly transforming into an urban one. As someone who has lived in this town my entire life, I feel a sense of sadness as these familiar sights continue to disappear.

This photo was taken at a park near my home. The Sagami River is right nearby, and it’s a place where much of the natural landscape remains untouched. This is a precious place that soothes my soul. The reason I love nature and plants is that I was born in this town and grew up surrounded by this kind of natural environment.

Further urban development is expected in the future. High-rise apartment buildings may continue to increase, and the nature that remains today might be further destroyed. I feel it is difficult to balance the challenges of population growth and urban development with the protection of nature. I sincerely hope that places like this park, which can soothe people’s hearts, will continue to remain in the future.

Mt. Takao Trip

I

In Golden Week, I went to Mt. Takao with my friend. I have lived in Hachioji for a total of 21 years. It’s been 8 years since I climbed this mountain only on foot. But I noticed genuine charm of Mt. Takao during climbing and descending.

The first and second pictures are captures of climbing trail 1. Trees bathe in light and shining.

The middle of climbing trail, we found a little shrine, this building is a little far away from “Yakuouin”. Yakuoin is most famous temple in Mt, Takao. But the building seemed to stand quietly and peacefully. This building will be waiting for visitors peacefully.

Thinking that my town spreads beneath Mount Takao, I felt a quiet sense of belonging. At the top of the mountain, the blue sky stretched wide above me, and I felt closer to the sky than ever before.

On our way down, my friend and I took Trail No.2 and Trail No.6.

The atmosphere was completely different from Trail No.1, and the hikers we saw looked much more like serious climbers.

The lively energy of Trail No.1 is wonderful, but on these quieter, more natural paths, it felt as if we were being allowed to enter the mountain, rather than being the main characters ourselves.

Along Trail No.6, there is a small waterfall called Biwa Falls,

where the water flowed quietly and gently. At standing there, I felt a sense of Takao’s true dignity as a mountain—something I had never noticed before. My friend told me he was jealous that I live so close to Mount Takao.

He envied the quietness, nature, and the fresh air, things you wouldn’t expect to find in Tokyo. Since it had been ten years since I last climbed Mount Takao, I discovered so many new things this time. Takao has become more convenient now, with lifts and cable cars,

but I realized that its true charm—the richness of nature, the living trees, and the feeling of wind and soil, can only be experienced by walking the mountain on foot.

Jindai botanical garden

On May 5 I woke up earlier than school days. It was the day to go to Jindai Botanical Garden with my grandparents. I was still sleepy, but I felt excited because we do not go out together very often. The weather was sunny and warm, so it seemed like a perfect day to visit a garden.

After eating breakfast, we left the house in the morning. My grandmother brought snacks and drinks in her bag, and my grandfather kept talking about the different flowers we might see there. On the train, the seats near the windows were full, but I enjoyed watching the scenery outside anyway. There were many families and couples heading somewhere for Golden Week, so the station was crowded and lively.

When we arrived at Jindai Botanical Garden, I was surprised by how many roses were blooming. There were red, yellow, orange, and pink roses everywhere. Some roses looked soft like clouds, while others had bright colors that stood out under the sunlight. My grandmother especially liked the pink roses, so we stopped many times to take pictures. I also took photos with my phone because the flowers looked beautiful in the sunlight.

As we walked through the garden, we could smell the sweet fragrance of the roses whenever the wind blew. Bees were flying around the flowers. My grandfather told me that he used to grow small flowers at home when he was younger, which I have heard several times before on that day. Yes he is 87.

Around noon, we are supposed to eat soba because it is famous in that places. But it was middle of golden week it was too crowded. It was too hard for 87 years to wait so wee chose to go to family restaurants. My grandfather loves eating meats so maybe it was good decision.

One evening, around the time when the sunset started to shine across the city, I was walking from the station to my part-time jobThe sky was blue and soft, and everything looked calm. There were some people enjoying the evening. Some people were fishing near the river, and others were walking slowly across the bridge with their friends or family. It felt peaceful and relaxing.

Next to the hotel where I work, there is a Yokohana city hall building. The sunlight from the sunset was shining on it, and it looked really beautiful and cool. The light made the whole building glow in warm colors. I usually feel lazy about going to work, especially in the evening, but when I saw the hotel building and the view around it, I felt a little more motivated. The design of the building looked very cool and modern, so it gave me more energy.

When I arrived at work, I looked outside from the lounge area on the second floor. There were flowers blooming near the windows, and they looked so pretty in the evening light. The colors looked soft from far away, but when I zoomed in with my iPhone I could see the details clearly.The flowers were blooming brightly with vivid colors, and they looked even more beautiful up close.

While looking outside, I started thinking that small moments like this can make an ordinary day feel special. Even though I was just going to my part-time job like always.

The return of the swallows is more than just a biological event; it is a testament to the incredible resilience of nature. These tiny birds, weighing only a few dozen grams, navigate thousands of miles across oceans and mountains to find their way back to the exact same spot. It’s as if they’ve bookmarked your station as a “safe harbor” in their vast world.

The photo you captured is truly special. Usually, swallows are busy taking turns keeping the eggs warm, but seeing the two of them together is a rare, intimate glimpse into their partnership. It looks like a quiet moment of shared duty—a “meeting of parents” before the chaos of feeding hungry chicks begins. While we cannot see the 4 to 6 eggs hidden beneath them, we can feel the warmth and dedication radiating from that nest.

What makes this story truly beautiful, however, is the invisible thread of kindness provided by the station staff. In a world that often prioritizes efficiency and cold schedules, these staff members have chosen to become the guardians of these small lives. By preparing the surrounding area and watching over the nest for years, they’ve turned a public space into a home.

The episode with the cardboard box is particularly moving. When the original nest failed and the “elements” (the chicks or the structure) fell, the staff didn’t just look the other way. They used their creativity and compassion to build a temporary home. That small act of using a simple cardboard box to save a life represents a profound respect for nature. It shows that even in the middle of a bustling city, there is room for empathy.

There is a certain “luxury” in watching a swallow’s nest. We live in an era of instant gratification, but we cannot rush an egg to hatch. We can only wait, watch, and hope. This shared act of “waiting” among the passengers and the staff creates a unique sense of community. When you and the station staff look up at that nest, you are all united by a simple, pure wish for these birds to succeed.

As you look forward to the eggs hatching, remember that you are witnessing a miracle of survival. Soon, the station will be filled with the frantic chirping of 4 to 6 new lives, and eventually, the sight of them taking their first clumsy flights under the watchful eyes of the staff. It’s a wonderful cycle of life that makes your daily commute feel a little more magical. I can’t wait to hear the update when those little ones finally arrive!

Title: an old slide in a park.

Picture 1: This is an old slide in a park. At least not so new thing. This park itself was apparently built in the late Showa period. One sunny day, I went to this park for the first time in a really long time and took a long shot of this slide. It is approximately 2 meters high, and it has one stair and one slide. It is painted with paintings of only 4 colors: Yellow, red, green, and blue. It is very simple. I took this photo early on a weekday morning, so there was no one else around. In addition, I think there aren’t that many children playing outdoors these days. It feels like ages ago that I was a child.

Picture 2: I closed it and took a close shot picture. This is it. I can see the mud stains on the side of the stairs. I can imagine easily that many children played with this slide. Because I can see these stains. The peeling paint on the handrails and the sand on the stairs are signs that this slide is not yet a forgotten structure.

Picture 3: This is a middle shot of the slide. The slides, bathed in the gentle morning sunlight, were truly lyrical. A slide that evokes a sense of history, standing amidst trees and flowers…And I think to myself, this slide will continue to watch over the growth of many children. Just like I was when I was a child.

4: This is a photograph of a tree growing in a particularly high position within the park. The screen is a little dark due to the backlighting. It’s probably about 10 meters tall, I think, and the type of tree is unknown. The lower part of the trunk is thick, but the upper part consists of thin branches. The thick lower trunk is divided into three branches. The green leaves of spring stand out against the slightly cloudy sky.

Picture 5: I noticed some areas where the epidermis was peeling off, so I took a close-up photo. The gray and ochre-colored surface reveals a pattern of cracks that appear to flow vertically. A tiny black ant toddled across the surface. It’s been a really long time since I’ve seen ants up close like this. It made me feel very nostalgic.

Picture 6: I zoomed out slightly from the close-up angle to capture a wider view. This is that. I noticed that the cracks on the surface extended quite far down. I thought it would be easy to climb this tree in this condition. I don’t remember the details, but I recall coming to this park with my mother and climbing trees when I was very young. I suddenly found myself imagining that scene. And I also tried to imagine parents and children playing in this park these days.

These photos are from a day I spent with my best friend, Rina. We decided to go to Ueno because we wanted to enjoy the atmosphere and visit some famous places there. One of the main places we visited was Ueno Zoo, which is one of the most popular zoos in Japan. Before going to the zoo, we went to eat malatang, a spicy Chinese hot pot dish that has recently become very popular in Japan. Since it was such a trendy restaurant, there was a very long line, and we had to wait for almost one and a half hours before we could finally eat. Even though the wait was long, I really wanted to eat it because I had not had malatang for a long time. The food was definitely worth waiting for because the taste was amazing, especially the spicy soup and toppings. I would really like to go there again in the future.

After finishing lunch, we finally went to Ueno Zoo. On that particular day, admission to the zoo was free, so it was much more crowded than usual. There were many families, tourists, and students, and it was difficult to move around comfortably. Because we spent so much time waiting for lunch, we only stayed at the zoo for about thirty minutes, but we still enjoyed seeing some of the animals. After leaving the zoo, we walked around Ueno Park for a while and discovered that a festival was being held there. We spent some time enjoying the festival atmosphere, had a few drinks, and relaxed together. At the end of the day, we went to a game center and played Mario Kart, which was really fun. Overall, it became a very memorable and enjoyable day for both of us.

A Productive Day in My Golden Week: Asakatsu in Starbucks

During Golden Week this year, I had a very rewarding time. I wanted to spend a meaningful day instead of just lazing at home during this period, so I decided to do “asakatsu (morning activity).” One day, I woke up at 5:30 a.m. and arrived in Shibuya at 7:00 a.m.. I had never been to Shibuya such early time, so I was surprised to see Shibuya so empty. Even the famous Shibuya Crossing that is usually packed with people was empty. The sky was thick with clouds and dim, as if the town hadn’t yet woken up.

What I chose as morning activity was to go to Starbucks. This store is always crowded during the day. However, in the morning, there were hardly any people there. While intriguing by the drink listed on the sign outside the shop, I ordered what I had come for. It was a blueberry muffin and a Starbucks latte. In particular, I’ve been really looking forward to having the latte for a while. It was a reproduced drink that the characters were drinking in “The Devil Wears Prada 2” which is a movie I saw at the theater a few days ago. I really enjoyed the movie, so I wanted to experience the same vibe as the characters. When I ordered this, I was happy that I was able to chat a little with the clerk about the movie and my drink.

A few minutes later, I received a warm latte in a mug. After that, I found a window seat and sat there. When I drank it, the latte was slightly bitter, but it smelled good and relaxing. I felt like my eyes were clearly awakened by the latte. I did my assignment and studying English with the muffin and latte. I felt like I was making good use of my time.

I tend to stay up late at night. However, I realized that if I go to bed early and wake up early and work in the morning, I can have a very productive time with my head. I want to continue my morning activities from now on.

Todoroki Valley

Just a few weeks ago, Todoroki Valley reopened to the public after being closed for nearly three years due to safety concerns and maintenance work. Many people in Tokyo had been waiting for this moment, and when I visited during Golden Week, the valley was already filled with visitors enjoying the fresh air and quiet atmosphere. Although Tokyo is often associated with crowded streets and tall buildings, Todoroki Valley offers a completely different side of the city.

As I walked down the path, the sounds of traffic slowly disappeared and were replaced by flowing water, birds, and rustling leaves. The bright red bridge standing above the stream created a strong contrast against the deep green forest. Even though the valley is located in the middle of a large city, it feels hidden from urban life. The sunlight filtering through the trees reflected softly on the water, making the area feel calm and peaceful.

I focused on capturing the different perspectives of the valley by using wide, medium, and close-up shots. The wide shots show the overall scenery and the way people move through the narrow path beside the stream. The medium shots highlight details such as the bridge and the walking trail, while the close-up shots capture the clear flowing water and small natural textures that people may overlook while walking.

What impressed me most was how people interacted with the space. Some visitors stopped to take photos, while others sat quietly near the water to relax. The valley was not only a sightseeing spot but also a place where people could slow down and escape from daily stress for a short time.

Near the end of the valley, there is a small traditional tea shop where visitors can buy snacks and drinks. Many people, including me, sat by the riverside enjoying matcha sweets while listening to the sound of the stream. It was a simple experience, but it perfectly matched the peaceful atmosphere of Todoroki Valley.

Travelogue in Ueno

My trip to Ueno started by meeting my friends near the station on first day of golden week. Ueno is known for its museums, so we decided to spend the whole day to spend the time to it. The weather changed throughout the day, but it does not matter to enjoy for us.

Before starting our sightseeing, we stopped at a restaurant and ate a delicious steak lunch. The meat was juicy, and the warm atmosphere of the diner helped us relax before walking around the city.

Next, we visited the National Museum of Nature and Science in Ueno. Inside the museum, there were many exhibits related to science, space exploration, fossils, and animals from around the world. One of the most impressive displays was the giant dinosaur skeleton and lifelike animal models. I was completely blown away when I am viewing it. Seeing these exhibits made me realize how much history and scientific knowledge humans have discovered over time.

After leaving the museum, we passed by the large whale monument outside the building. I never imagined I would be seen off by a life-size whale. The contrast between the blue of the sky and the blue of the whale made the whale look even more realistic. My visit to the museum was full of one surprise after another right right up to the very end.

We then walked to an art museum nearby. At the entrance, there was a thoughtful-looking statue standing after the rain. The artwork created a quiet and reflective mood compared to the excitement of the science museum. I enjoyed experiencing both science and art in the same area because they express human creativity in different ways.

Later, while heading toward a shopping area, my friend and I unexpectedly found a beautiful view of Tokyo Skytree between the buildings. The contrast between the modern tower, electric wires, and streets of Tokyo perfectly harmonized.

Finally, we finished the day by eating curry together for dinner. I have not eaten much Indian’s curry, so I got some sort of culture shock that such a huge naan are existing for standard mal meal. Although we visited many places, the best part of the trip was spending time with my friend and discovering new experiences together in Ueno!

#3 The Photo Story

I met my friend John a couple of months ago in November, and during Golden Week I had the opportunity to visit his hometown in Iqaluit, Canada, Nunavut. John is part European and part Inuit, so visiting him also gave me the chance to experience a culture that was very different from what I was used to in Japan or America.

At first, I was pretty nervous, since many people in Nunavut speak multiple languages because of the region’s Indigenous history and culture, including English, Inuktitut, Inuinnaqtun, and French. Luckily, my friend, John helped me communicate and understand the area better. One of the main reasons I wanted to visit was because I enjoy cold weather and nature, and I wanted to experience what life was like in a northern Indigenous community. Culture, environment, etc.

It was expected but what surprised me most was just how extreme the environment was. Temperatures were constantly below freezing, so I had to wear multiple layers just to stay warm outside. Snow covered most of the landscape, and many people traveled using snowmobiles instead of cars. Some areas were dangerous, so I had to stay alert while exploring. John taught me how to safely move around the area and explained how local people adapt to the harsh conditions.

Although the trip was physically challenging because of the cold, it gave me a completely different perspective on life and nature. Visiting Nunavut allowed me to experience not only beautiful landscapes, but also the culture and daily realities of people living in one of the coldest regions in the world.

One thing that felt unreal to me was that there were polar bears. Whenever one was spotted nearby, alerts would immediately appear on John’s phone, and people would stay indoors until it was safe again. It made me realize how closely connected daily life is with nature in Nunavut. And honestly, it was a little terrifying because it was apparently pretty common. During the trip, I also managed to photograph an arctic fox walking through the snow, which became one of my favorite memories

During my visit to Mother Farm in Japan, I watched a small pig race event for children and families. At first, I thought it was just a simple activity for entertainment, but after spending some time there and taking photos, I noticed many interesting details about the atmosphere and the people.

The event took place outside on a cloudy day. Many families were standing around the small race field, watching the children and pigs together. The staff members helped organize the event and guided the children before the race started. Some children looked excited, while others looked nervous because the pigs did not always run in the expected direction.

The first wide shots show the whole environment of the farm. There were many people, open green spaces, and a relaxed atmosphere. The event felt very local and friendly. Parents were taking photos and videos while children waited for the race to begin. These photos help show the relationship between the people, the animals, and the environment.

The medium shots focus more on the interaction between the children and the pigs. The children followed the pigs carefully and tried to guide them toward the goal. Sometimes the pigs stopped suddenly or walked away from the race path, which made everyone laugh. I think these moments were the most natural and interesting part of the event because nobody could fully control what would happen.

The close-up photos show the pigs more clearly. Their small movements, colors, and expressions became easier to notice. I wanted to capture the animals not only as part of a game, but also as living creatures with their own behavior and personality.

What impressed me the most was the atmosphere between the children and the adults. Even though it was only a small event, many people looked genuinely happy. The farm became a place where families could relax, spend time together, and enjoy nature and animals. Through these photos, I wanted to show a simple moment of everyday life in Japan and the connection between people, animals, and shared experiences.

Golden Week in Minatomirai

The last day of Golden Week is always a bit sad. To make the most of it, I decided to go to Minato Mirai in Yokohama with a friend. Our main goal was to try the famous “I’m donut?” shop. When we arrived, there were so many types of donuts. I took some photos of the shop display. The close-up of the “Zakuzaku Nuts” donut looked amazing with all the crunchy toppings. We also saw many salty options like donuts with ham and cheese, which was surprising. After buying a box of donuts, we walked to the park near the ocean. We found a

wooden bench and opened our boxes. Inside, there were colorful donuts like pistachio, strawberry, and chocolate. We sat there for a long time, eating and just talking about our holiday. Near our bench, there was a cute little dog in a stroller. It looked like it wanted a bite of our food too! I took a wide shot of the area to show how peaceful it was with the people and pets enjoying the afternoon. The view of Yokohama Bay was very calm. Even though the sky was a bit cloudy, the Bay Bridge in the distance looked beautiful. As the sun started to set, the sky turned a light pink color. We could see the big Ferris wheel starting to light up. It was the perfect way to end the long holiday. This day reminded me that you don’t need to do anything big to have a good time. Just some good donuts, a nice view, and a good friend to talk to are enough to feel happy.

A Golden Week Afternoon: Simple Joys in Shinagawa

Golden Week is usually a time when everyone travels, but this year, a few of us from university decided to keep things simple. We gathered at a friend’s apartment in Shinagawa for a relaxed afternoon. Living in a busy city can sometimes feel lonely, so having a day where we could just hang out, cook, and play games together was the perfect way to spend the holiday break.

The afternoon was very casual. Sunlight came through the windows, giving the room a warm and comfortable feeling. From the apartment, you can see the dense rows of buildings that make up this part of Tokyo. We didn’t have a big plan; we just wanted to enjoy each other’s company. We spent a long time in the kitchen together, preparing some of our favorite Chinese dishes. There is something very grounding about chopping vegetables and stirring a wok while chatting about nothing in particular. It wasn’t a fancy feast, but the taste of home-cooked food made the apartment feel much more welcoming.

After we finished eating and cleared the table, we started playing Werewolf. We’ve played this game many times before, but it never gets old. The quiet mood of the lunch quickly changed as we all got into character. It’s a game of logic and trying to read people’s expressions, which always leads to a lot of laughter and some very loud debates. Even though we are friends, we take the game seriously, trying to spot who is lying and who is telling the truth. We were so focused on the game that we didn’t notice the sun going down outside.

By the time we finished our last round and the city lights of Shinagawa were glowing outside, I felt completely refreshed. This Golden Week didn’t involve any famous tourist spots or expensive dinners, but it was exactly what we needed. Being with friends, sharing a simple meal, and losing track of time over a card game reminded me that home isn’t just a place, but the people you spend your time with.

I belong to a mountain climbing club at my university. During Golden Week, all the members of our club went on a hiking trip together. The weather was beautiful throughout the trip, and we were able to enjoy nature under a clear blue sky. It was also a great opportunity to become closer to the first-year students who had just joined our club, so the camp became a very fun and memorable experience for everyone. Before the hiking day, we stayed overnight in a place called Hatonosu in Okutama. Okutama is famous for its rich nature, rivers, and mountains, and I was surprised that such an amazing place exists in Tokyo. On the first day, we had a barbecue together. Everyone helped prepare it by splitting firewood, cutting vegetables, setting up the equipment, and cooking food together. Spending time outdoors and eating with everyone in the middle of nature made the barbecue especially enjoyable. We talked a lot, laughed together, and deepened our friendships.

The next morning, we woke up very early and started climbing the mountains. We climbed Mt. Sogaku and Mt. Takamizu. Some of the first-year students had never climbed a mountain before, but everyone encouraged and supported each other during the hike. Because of teamwork and cooperation, we were all able to safely reach the top. Along the way, we took many pictures and had fun making different poses together. Since the weather was perfect, we could also enjoy many beautiful views from the mountains. The scenery was so impressive that I could hardly believe we were still in Tokyo. As the captain of the club, I had an important responsibility to make sure that around forty participants could finish the trip safely without injuries. I paid close attention to everyone’s condition during the hike and tried to support the members as much as possible. Thankfully, everyone returned safely, and I felt very relieved and happy about that. During Golden Week, I spent almost every day working part-time, so this trip was the only chance I had to truly relax and enjoy myself. It became one of the best memories of my Golden Week, and I am very glad that I could share such a wonderful experience with my club members.

Exploring my neighborhood

Did you know that the name “Nobita” from Doraemon is said to come from the town of Nobi in Yokosuka?
There’s a theory that Fujiko F. Fujio named Nobita after Nobi, a place in Yokosuka, because he liked the sound of the name.

When you visit Nobi Beach (Nobi Kaigan), you can also see some unique monuments inspired by Doraemon.

Nobi Beach is a perfect spot for walking or running, with beautifully paved paths. However, due to complicated tidal flow, swimming and surfing are not allowed there.

As the weather is getting warmer, I’d recommend having a BBQ instead of going into the water.

There is a parking lot near the beach, so it’s easy to visit even if you live far away.

If you don’t have a driver’s license, the nearest station is YRP Nobi, about a 5-minute walk from the beach. It takes about 50 minutes by train from Totsuka station, so you can even go after school.

I usually go there to relax or walk my dog. Many locals also walk their dogs there, and everyone is friendly, which makes it a really nice place.

When I’m feeling tired, I bring my headphones and listen to music by the beach. It’s very relaxing. Sometimes, I even see people playing guitar and singing, if you’re brave enough, that’s another way to enjoy the beach!

In summer, you’ll also see shirtless older men sunbathing.

Enoshima and Zushi Beach can get very crowded, so if you don’t like busy places or feel a bit shy, Nobi Beach is a great quieter alternative for sunbathing.

There are also some good restaurants around the beach, so it’s definitely worth checking out!

The Photo Story

This is a villa area deep in the mountains of Atami. While the city itself was as hot as a midsummer day, this place was truly a summer retreat. It was cool enough to need a jacket, which made it a comfortable environment for our family’s French Bulldog, who is especially sensitive to heat. This photo was taken from above and behind. The wooden floor was cool and refreshing and apparently felt so nice that he kept relaxing in this same position. His chubby little thighs seen from the back look irresistibly adorable.

Moving a little closer, this next photo was taken from the front at an angle. You can see how he has tucked in his front paws. He is usually so energetic and noisy, constantly running around, but when he curls himself up like this, he somehow looks so compact and unbelievably cute.

This next shot is even closer, taken straight from the front. The image quality and his adorable appearance make it look as though it could be used for a calendar. How should I even describe it? His innocent round eyes, his gaze that seems to look nowhere in particular, his drooping cheeks, and his tiny nose—he is so cute I could almost eat him.

Next is Mount Fuji. At sunset on a day when the sun was shining brilliantly, the color of the sky changed every second. When those colors reflected off the clouds, it created a breathtakingly magnificent scene. There may be nothing that lets you feel the power of nature more than watching this transformation alongside Japan’s proudest mountain, Mount Fuji. In this photo, under a sky gradually turning orange from foreground to horizon, the snow-covered mountain rises proudly and majestically.

Here is a close-up from a slightly different angle. The image quality has already begun to suffer due to the limitations of an iPhone 13 camera, but the changing scenery is unmistakable. The sky is becoming redder, and the surroundings are slowly growing darker. The outline of Mount Fuji stands out clearly. Seeing it up close again, I cannot help but marvel at how such a large and beautifully shaped mountain exists.

An even closer shot reveals the snow at the summit more clearly. I start imagining which route climbers take to the top, and how the snow gradually melts, since I have never even visited the foot of the mountain. As darkness deepens, Mount Fuji begins to turn into a silhouette. It feels slightly mysterious, almost eerie, yet still beautiful—as if it is quietly looking down on us.

And here is another photo of our puppy, this time a wide shot that clearly shows his whole body. He looks at me with a puzzled expression—or perhaps he has simply gotten used to the camera and is striking a pose.

Then comes a photo where he is lying in a position I had never seen before. Is he deliberately showing off his perfectly stretched hind legs and his adorable paw pads?

But when I moved even closer, he had already fallen asleep. What a whimsical and free-spirited dog he is. Even with his eyes closed, his face is adorable—truly, unbelievably adorable.

Day out in Shibuya with my bestie

Today, I was very excited because I was finally able to hang out with my high school friends after a long time. After graduating from high school, we continued to send messages to each other, so I had really been looking forward to seeing her again. We decided to spend the day together in Shibuya and enjoy shopping, good food, and long conversations.

The first place we visited was a Japanese restaurant called “Nakayoshi” near Shibuya station. This is one of my favorite restaurants. It is popular because you can enjoy delicious and affordable Japanese set meals there. One of the best things about the restaurant is that you can eat as much rice as you want, so it is easy to leave feeling completely full and satisfied. We talked a lot while eating and enjoyed catching up on our university lives, part-time jobs, and recent experiences.

Of course, no fun day is complete without dessert. After lunch, we walked around in Shibuya city and then we visited a cafe in Shinjuku called “Café Wall”. While enjoying delicious cakes and tart plates, we were able to relax and have a long conversation together, which made the time very fulfilling.

After we finished eating the cakes and slowly enjoyed our tea, my friend surprised me with a birthday present. I was really surprised and I was so glad about her wonderful gifts. She gave me many pretty gifts, such as hand cream and a handkerchief. Among them, the one that stood out the most was a hamster charm. The hamster was so adorable, and the color of it looks like cheddar cheese, so I ended up naming it “Cheddar Cheese.” I hope to take it with me to many different places from now on. As the sun began to set, one of the cafe staff members placed a candle on our table. The small flickering light created a warm and relaxing atmosphere that made us feel very calm and peaceful. We spent a long time talking there without noticing how quickly time was passing.

Finally, we visited a shopping complex called Shibuya PARCO. We went to the Nintendo store and visited a pop-up store for the anime JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure. We enjoyed shopping and looking around the stores.

At the end of the day, we promised to meet again soon and boarded different trains home. I think it is truly wonderful to have friends who still stay close to you and care about you even after becoming university students. It made me realize once again how important friendship is to me.

In front of my house

There are always some people in the park in front of my house, such as families, elementary school students, people with dogs, and even small kids from kindergarten. They are always spending their time doing whatever they wish to.

There are pink flowers named Azalea (Tsutsuji in Japanese) there. It looks like they are watching over the people who come to the park.

This contrast of green and pink tells me the middle of spring. After cherry blossoms fall, some people might think there is nothing to see. However, azaleas are there and tell us the changing of the season.

When I was in kindergarten, I tried to suck nectar because my friends were doing it. Azaleas have sweet nectar inside. I think it was a little unsanitary since it is in nature, but it is one of my memories there. Do you want to try it?

An Evening at In-N-Out

During my spring break, I visited Los Angeles and tried In-N-Out Burger for the first time. I had heard that Shohei Ohtani really likes this place and even calls it his favorite burger restaurant, so I went there with high expectations.

From outside, the restaurant looked bright and welcoming in the evening. The glowing logo was cute, and even before 6 p.m., many people were already waiting in line. The lively atmosphere made me even more excited.

Inside, I ordered the “Animal Style,” a secret menu item. The sauce tasted like a mix of ketchup and mayonnaise, with a sweet and slightly tangy flavor. It was delicious and different from what I usually eat in Japan.

After this experience, it became my favorite burger place. If I visit Los Angeles again, I will definitely go back.

A Small Beginning, A Sweet Hope

This series captures the quiet growth of my newly planted strawberries. In the long shot, the plant sits in its new, larger pot, surrounded by its environment, symbolizing a fresh start and a better “home.” The medium shot brings the focus closer, showing the plant itself and its relationship with the soil and space, emphasizing the care and attention it now receives. Finally, the close-up reveals the small new buds beginning to grow, representing hope, patience, and new life.

This is my second time growing strawberries. The first time, I did not take good care of them, and they only produced a few fruits. That experience taught me the importance of responsibility and consistency. This time, I am more attentive and hopeful. Seeing the new buds gives me a sense of excitement and anticipation. I believe that with proper care, these strawberries will grow stronger and produce more fruit. On April 25, I decided to take a walk from Totsuka Station to the nearest station, which i

s about 25 kilometers away. The weather was a bit cloudy, but it was comfortable enough to walk. As I walked along a quiet street, I was thinking about my day and enjoying the calm atmosphere.

In the middle of my walk, I suddenly came across a strange signboard that simply said “YOU.” I am not sure what kind of shop it is, but the word “YOU” caught my attention right away. It felt like the sign was speaking directly to me and somehow cheering me up. Thanks to that small and unexpected moment, I was able to enjoy the rest of my walk even more.

I went to Shenzhen with a friend to attend a concert by Hua Chenyu, and it turned out to be an unforgettable experience. We had been looking forward to it for a long time, and the excitement kept building as we approached the venue.

The concert was held in a massive stadium, packed with tens of thousands of people, and every seat was filled. Despite the huge crowd, the atmosphere felt surprisingly warm. Many of Hua Chenyu’s fans were very friendly, and some even exchanged small gifts with each other, which made the experience feel more personal and connected.

Before the show began, we bought official merchandise, especially his light sticks, and joined the sea of glowing lights in the audience. To our surprise, the singer had also prepared gifts for everyone, neatly packed in red paper bags. It was a thoughtful gesture that made fans feel truly appreciated.

When the lights dimmed, the entire stadium erupted in cheers. Hua Chenyu delivered a powerful and emotional performance, and his voice resonated through the venue. The stage design and visual effects were stunning, with impressive lighting and screens that perfectly matched each song.

Overall, it was an incredible night. Sharing it with my friend made it even more meaningful, and it’s a memory I will always treasure.

This maple tree is planted at the entrance to my house. It was planted over five years ago and has been growing larger every year since then. Unlike most maple trees, this one changes color twice a year—in spring and fall. In summer, it turns green, and in winter, its leaves fall off. Right now, it’s gradually changing from red to green. The tree is full of different colors, making it very vibrant. This tree brings dappled sunlight and color to our home. Behind the tree is a large window, through which the sunlight gently streams into the room. The sight of the leaves rustling in the breeze puts us in a peaceful mood. In spring and fall, the red leaves catch the sunlight, casting a warm, reddish glow throughout the room.

My sweety interior

This is a sansevieria (house plant) I recently bought.
It’s about 30 cm tall already, which is a decent size, but I’ve heard that with proper watering and sunlight, it can grow up to around 1 meter. I’m really looking forward to watching it grow. I also think it blends in nicely with my room as part of the interior.

When I take a closer look, the leaves are a vibrant green, but I notice that parts of the base have turned brown. The soil is also moist, so I might have overwatered it.

Looking even more closely, I can see a new shoot emerging between the leaves. As it grows, a new leaf will open from here, which I’m really excited about.

“Haljion” this is little flower in the garden. They look like overgrown brushes.

But This flower is not just a brush for me.

This little flower called a “Binbousou” in japanese older generation.

That mean is “be poor flower”. If you pick this flower, you will become poor in

Japanese superstition. That superstition come from the plant properties.

Haljion has a storong vitality, They can live anywhere even if neglected places and nature.

Some Japanese people think the flower is not butiful due to this superstition. But I don’t think this folower is ugly. On the contrary, I suppose this flower is beautiful. This looks like a fragile flower. Such as, small petals, thin stem, and not fabulous looking.

But they can live strong, even if ruined environments with out people’s helping.

And just waiting blooming and last day of living. I was attracted to thet appearance and quiet beauty. Also, Haljon’s language of flower is “ Reminiscence of love”. Haljion blooming lools “A girl bows her head and miss a her preciaus person”. This is not a poor flower. Just a strong but quiet beauty. I want to be a person who has inner strength and serene beauty like a Haljion.

Memory Growing Like a Tree

This artwork that I found in Thailand looked like a tree, but it was made of old film strips, wood, and many small pieces.

In the long shot, I wanted to show the whole space and how big the artwork was. It looked alive and still growing. The roots were spreading on the floor, and the branches were growing upward.

In the medium shot, I focused on the center part. I could see how the branches and film strips were connected. It looked like nature and human memories were mixed.

In the close-up view, I could look at the film strips more clearly. I could see pictures of buildings and objects on them. It felt like something was being made step by step and moving toward completion like tree growth.

Breathing Green through the Path

Going through the way home, which I always walk. Suddenly, I noticed that there are something looking down from above. He is swaying his arms and legs or maybe his head. His motion is slow and calm but feels a bit strength at the same time. Now I look up and wave back at him.

Seems that he is smiling down at me. Whispering the arrival of spring with weak wind-blows, he covered the path where people are going across and embrace me kindly and warmly. Feel like I can take his hands at the moment.

His thousands of hands are same as our hands. His vein is clearly carved on his palms as well as our palm lines run on ours. He looks different from us, but we are the same. We have lines for blood or water on our palms. This line is essential part of all our bodies, and it is the proof of our alive. So we are the same.

Picture 1. This is my cat. His name is Nicolas. He is 6~7 years old, which is equivalent to about 40 years old in human years. One sunny afternoon, he came to the window and lay down on the floor, just as he always did. He is very easygoing and loves to be pampered. He’s already 40 years old, yet he’s still like that. That is funny. By assuming this posture, he is telling us, “Play with me!!” or” Stroke me!!”

Picture 2. I approached him and took a close-up photo. He didn’t seem to mind at all and continued lying on the floor as usual. What does he think of us? Does he perhaps think of us not as humans, but as fellow cats? His face has stripes and a beard and is basically orange except for his white chin. His eyes are narrow because it’s daytime and bright. When I leaned closer to him, he greeted me by touching our noses together.

Picture 3. He was grooming himself, completely oblivious to my efforts to take the best possible photos. It might sound conceited, but I think he feels safe when I am around him. I am very glad about that. I pray that he will always be with me.

The close-up is where it gets interesting. You can’t fully read him because of the glasses, which kind of block that connection. His expression is neutral, but not empty. It feels like he’s choosing not to show much.

The second shot kind of just shows everything. He’s standing there in the classroom, but it feels empty, like nothing’s really happening yet. The rows of desks make it look structured, but at the same time, there’s this quiet feeling like it’s before class starts or right after it ends. He doesn’t really blend in, he just exists in that space.

In the last shot, it feels more personal. You can actually focus on him now, and not just the room. He still looks calm, but also a bit distant, as if he’s thinking about something or just not fully there. As if he didn’t do well on his test… The red jacket stands out a lot more here, almost separating him from everything else around him.

At last, it’s just a moment where nothing obvious is happening, but it still feels like something is there under the surface.

Matcha Experience

These are the pictures which I experienced tea ceremony. The other day, tea ceremony was held there and I attended it. The tearoom is in Building 8, Meiji Gakuin University. The tearoom has a very calm atmosphere. From the window of the tearoom, we can see the small and beautiful Japanese garden. This was almost first time for me to experience tea ceremony. A lecturer dressed in traditional Japanese kimono taught for some students about tea there. I was able to learn the spirit of tea ceremony through this opportunity. And while relaxing, I was able to enjoy having matcha and sweets.

After tea ceremony, we could have experience of making tea. It was little bit difficult to make tea. However, it was a precious experience. I had a good time to learn about Japanese traditional culture.

It was raining and pretty cold that day, so I decided to put some clothes on my dog, Mugi. She’s an Akita, so technically, she should be totally fine in the cold, but honestly, she gets chilly way more than you’d expect. She always ends up sticking really close to us when it’s cold, like she’s trying to steal our body heat, which is honestly so cute. The funny thing is, she doesn’t really like wearing clothes. Every time I try to put something on her, she gives me this look like, “Do I really have to wear this?” But once it’s on, she kind of just accepts it and follows me around anyway. If you look closely at the picture, you can see her ears sticking out from the hood. But actually, when I first bought these hoodies, there were no holes for her ears at all. I just thought, “It would be SO much cuter if her ears could pop out!” so I ended up cutting holes in it myself. I was a little nervous at first, but it turned out exactly how I imagined, and now it looks even cuter than before. The only small problem is that the size is a bit too big for her. When she puts the hood on, it sometimes covers her eyes, so she can’t really see. But weirdly, she doesn’t seem to mind. I think she actually finds it comfortable because it’s dark and feels safe, almost like she’s hiding in her own little cozy space. In the third picture, her ears are completely hidden, so she kind of looks like a seal, which made me laugh a lot. He is my friend, Reo Hiramoto. I asked him to be the subject for this project, and I’m very grateful. I took photos of him from three different distances. When I shot from a close distance, his face became the main focus, and I could clearly see details like his facial features, the flow of his eyebrows, and even his pores. When I shot from a medium distance, unlike the close-up, I naturally started to notice his hairstyle, clothing, pose, and expression. From the farthest distance, he seemed to blend more into the surrounding scenery, and the impression of him being the main subject became slightly weaker. By the way, he is very stylish. He is completely different from me, as I usually go to school in a tracksuit for three years. I should learn from him. Through this assignment, I realized that what we focus on changes depending on the distance from the subject.

A Night in Ho Chi Minh City

In spring brake, I visited to Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam. This was the fourth time to visit Vietnam for me, but this was my first visit to Ho Chi Minh City. I stayed there only 1 night but I spent wonderful time. This is People Committee’s building in Ho Chi Minh City. The statue of Ho Chi Minh is more famous, but this building behind it is beautiful, and when I realized it, I took photos of only it. On this day, I took part in a night bus tour. The first, third photo was taken when I got on a two-story bus on a bus tour, and the second photo was taken from the side of building before the bus tour. To be honest, I didn’t realize that these buildings were the same until I got home. It looks very beautiful from a distance, but the closer you get, the more clearly you can see the sculptures of the building, and I felt like they have a different face.

Enjoying Nature

On days off, I was playing with my dog as usual. We threw a ball, tugged at a rope, and ran together. Those happy moments make time pass too quickly.

I was surprised how quickly the time had flown by, but I was so exhausted. I felt I might just collapse. Yet my dog hadn’t had enough playtime. She was urging me to play again. I wanted to say, ‘Give me a break.’ I still wanted to spend time with her, but I do not want to run again. Therefore, I came up with a compromise. Let’s just relax in the garden. My dog lay down under the persimmon tree, which had not yet borne fruit. How adorable she looked. Once again, I spent time with my dog by enjoying nature.

fluffy, pretty, and cuddly

If you’re looking for an animal friend who is both tough and cute—just like The Powerpuff Girls—I highly recommend a chinchilla. Their small, fluffy appearance is very attractive, even in photos.

My pet, Mochi, is very moody. It’s rare for him to stay still in the same pose when I point my phone at him, because chinchillas can jump high and move very quickly. Sometimes he climbs up onto a chair and just gazes off into the distance. But other times, he’ll lean in close to the screen, full of curiosity. He’s in such a free spirit that it’s hard to get a good shot, which is why I feel so incredibly happy when I finally capture a cute photo of him. Though, of course, he’s even cuter in person!

For this assignment I chose my friend Luke as the subject. He wants to be a model one day, so we tried to shoot him in a way that actually feels like something you’d see in a portfolio rather than just random photos. We avoided taking photos on campus because everything there felt too plain and modern, and it didn’t really match the mood we were going for.

The long shot shows Luke in the environment, standing on the rocks by the water. It gives context and makes him look smaller compared to the space around him, which I think adds a bit more interest than just placing him in a normal setting. The medium shot brings him closer and shows more of his style and posture. He’s sitting and reading, which makes the image feel more natural but still intentional. The close-up focuses on his face and expression, which is probably the most important part since modeling is about how you present yourself.

I used an Asahi Pentax Spotmatic with 35mm film because I prefer the look and process of film. It feels more real and forces you to think more before taking each shot, instead of just spamming photos digitally. Overall, the three shots work together to show Luke in different ways, from his environment down to his expression.

This is a typhoon shelter for yachts in Atami. I shot these with Sigma 70-200 F2.8 lens. All these were shot in F4. Shooting in aperture F4 is actually the sweet spot. When shooting at the wide angle end 70mm, F4 provides you a clear background and the subject. Most things are in focused. And when you zoom in to the tele end of 200mm, it separates the background and the subject very well. It provides you very beautiful, shallow bokeh, yet you could somewhat recognising the background unlike wide open fast lens like what a F1.2 would show you: a blurry, unrecognisable background that could be anywhere.

From a distance, the guitar blends naturally into the room, almost like a piece of interior décor. Of course, that depends on its design, color, and shape—but mine happens to melt in just right. At this point, even the refrigerator looks more out of place.

The gold hardware adds a subtle touch of brilliance to one corner of the room.

But when you step a little closer, a faint sense of discomfort begins to surface. It starts asserting itself as an instrument. The six silver strings catch the light in an oddly striking way, and the harmony with the surroundings starts to fall apart.

Move in even closer, and the signs of wear become clear—enough to easily imagine myself holding it. The body bears small dents, the pickguard is marked with traces of countless strokes, and the knobs hold fingerprints that won’t come off with a simple wipe. It’s fascinating how something can look so different just by changing the distance. Even without making a sound, a guitar can be endlessly interesting.

In my home, there are always flowers displayed in the living room. It is a simple and familiar part of my daily life, something I often see without thinking too much about it. However, the flowers change with the seasons, and each time they are replaced, the atmosphere of the room shifts slightly.

A Warm Atmosphere After Heavy Rain

The day I took this picture, it was raining heavily in the morning. But after my first class, the weather cleared up completely, and the scene looked entirely different. On my way home, I noticed a bridge quietly standing under the bright blue sky. I usually just pass over it without thinking, but seeing it from below made it feel like a symbol of my university.

Under the bridge, vivid pink and white flowers were in full bloom, giving a strong sense of spring. When I took a close-up shot, I could see students walking across the bridge above. They all seemed excited, as if their hearts were lifted by the start of the new semester.

About the first photo, this is a part of my room. Near my bed, there is a piece of clothing hanging. It is a uniform of the soccer team Manchester City. I like soccer, so I often watch matches and play it myself. I got this uniform as a prize when I won a soccer tournament last year.

About the second one, in the photo, you can see that it is the uniform of number 3, Ruben Dias. He is a player for the Portuguese national team and one of the top-level defenders in the world.

About the third one, when you look at it up closely, you can see the texture of the uniform. It looks like it has small holes in the fabric, which makes it very breathable. Material is very important when playing soccer. Depending on the viewing distance, different details become visible.

“Oni-cha” went on sale at 7-Eleven on Tuesday, April 21. This tea was produced by HIKAKIN, one of Japan’s top YouTubers, who hopes it will offer a “fun and exciting experience” that overturns the traditional image of barley tea.

On the day of its release, on my way home from university, I stopped by a 7-Eleven, worried it might be sold out, but found plenty still in stock. The taste is refreshing and very easy to drink, with no unnecessary additives and the natural umami of the barley coming through.

There’s even a treat waiting after you finish drinking it: the “Oni mikuji.” A fortune slip is printed on the back of the bottle label; it’s a fun touch that keeps the enjoyment going until the end. I drew a “Chukichi”, but my satisfaction with Oni-cha was definitely “Daikichi”.

Some research shows that it is better to sunbathe every morning, so I would love to do it for both my hero and me in the morning. However, the problem is that the window of my apartment faces east. I am pretty sure that you get what I mean. We can get sunlight only for four hours every morning. I honestly dislike this part of my room, but it makes me wake up early and stay healthy. Therefore, I appreciate my east-facing window and my hero, Mickey Mouse.

I wake up in the morning (actually at noon, because my room doesn’t get sunlight early in the morning). After washing up, I feel bored and sit at my desk, not knowing what to do. Then I suddenly notice sunlight coming into my room, lighting up my cabinet and the CDs and toys on it. I realize the weather is very nice, and my mood becomes better.

Such good weather is perfect for going out and having fun, but I am very lazy. So I just stay in my room, thinking again and again that today is a good day to go out. Maybe this is the kind of life that suits me best.

This succulent was the first living thing I bought upon arriving in Japan. Captured here in the golden glow of a sunset, it has been my most resilient companion. When I was trying to do this assignment and looking at the window, this creepy little doll was staring at me. This little doll with wired face is always in my room. I don’t even know what animal it is, but that strange face always makes me laugh. Durling sunset, the soft light from the window makes it look much warmer and little less scary. Sometimes it is quietly watching my room all day. I know it strange and creepy but that is why I feel special to me. Even a small wired doll like this can make my room feel more fun and comfortable.

His name is “Mamoru-kun.” He’s a police officer-style doll placed on Miyako Island to pray for traffic safety. And the little Mamoru-kun at my house prays for my family’s safety in traffic. At dusk, he waits for us to return home, greeting us with a warm “Welcome home” together with the beautiful sunset and a pleasant breeze. I feel as though Mamoru-kun is even praying for our family’s happiness. Every time I look at him, I’m reminded of the beautiful sea, the sunset, and the stars stretching across the night sky that I experienced with my family on Miyako Island.

Though he is just a small doll, he possesses a huge power to protect our home.

This is a photo of bottle of whiskey in my room, taken around 9 a.m. The Suntory Kakubin called “Kaku” is one of the most classic whiskies in Japan. Since its release in 1937 by Suntory, it has been loved for generations. After attending university classes in the morning and working a part-time job, this drink at the end of the day enriches my life. This photo was taken on a cloudy day, so the sunlight is not strong, but it changes the color of the whiskey. Although the whiskey is originally amber, some parts appear in a deeper amber, while others shine with gold. Exposing the liquid to sunlight changes its color, which makes it very interesting.

This is my favorite acoustic guitar from Gibson, one of the most prestigious guitar makers. I had used it for a long time before entering university. But I stopped playing it after I joined the music club and started playing electric guitar. When I was looking for some object that I used in this assignment in my room, this guitar was calling me with a beautiful sunset. At that moment, I was suddenly reminded of my high school days. Combined with those memories, the guitar seemed to shine brighter than usual and felt even more special. I want to continue to cherish it.

Mochi‘s best friend

Fireworks, wind chimes, and the sound of cicadas—these are some of the many things that symbolize summer in Japan. A mosquito coil is one of them.
In my home, I have a pig-shaped mosquito coil. However, to me, it is not something to keep insects away, but rather a special kind of friend.
Sleeping peacefully in the cage just behind it is Mochi, my beloved chinchilla.
He sometimes climbs inside the mosquito coil and plays there happily.
The two of them have been together for six years, truly the best of friends who share many quiet and happy moments every day.

Mochi is once again enjoying a quiet nap beside his little friend today.

They don’t feel alive, and yet, somehow, when the sunlight touches them,
they look as if they might start moving at any moment.

Or maybe… they even look like real plants that don’t need water.

I wonder if they’re real or not. Maybe I’ll ask my father when I get home.

This photograph was taken in my room in Spain, where I used to live. At the time, I felt it was nothing more than an ordinary place where I simply went about my everyday life. The brick buildings I saw first thing every morning and the flags flying outside the window were nothing more than a familiar sight to me. It was only after I left that I realised just how special they were. This room is filled with memories I can never return to, yet they live on within me to this day. It was also here that I began to dream of living abroad once more.

This cat’s name is “Kinako”, and he is a boy. In English, it means roasted soybean flow. The colors are very similar, so we put them on. The type of cat is a Scottish Fold, 11 years old. This child was originally cared for by a different family I knew, but they couldn’t keep him anymore, so we decided to keep him when I was in the fifth grade of elementary school. He is very friendly, and he doesn’t get angry at all if we touch all over. He always sits and lies down like an old man. This picture shows the sunset shining beautifully while “Kinako” was lying down.

There is only one word to wake her up! OKASI which means treats in Japanese! She loves to take naps while sunbathing BUT her head is always full of eating. So, whenever I say OKASI, she opens her eyes immediately and stares at me with an expectant look.

First, I’m sorry the picture was taken in the kitchen.

It was taken at 5:21 a.m. I woke up early in the morning because I was hungry. The fact that I went for a run the night before is also relevant. I tried to go back to sleep, but I was too hungry to sleep. So I decided to eat something. I had made oyakodon(chicken and egg rice bowl) the day before, so I ate it. I usually eat breakfast after the sun risen, so eating a meal while bathed in the morning sun felt strange and calm. With my stomach full and warm, I washed the dishes and went back to sleep.

I bought my favorite drink, almond milk latte, at Starbucks and studied English for TOIEC in my room. I usually buy it when I want to study hard to get motivated. On that day, I studied French for DELF (French examination) in the morning and after lunch break, I bought this drink and did an example test of TOIEC. Around 5pm, the sun was beautiful and I took this picture. After all of my studying, I played the violin for 2 hours and it was quite nice day.

Backlighting my guitars. Nothing too crazy, the black one is Epiphone Les Paul custom that I bought from a local place back in the days I still lived in countryside. The owner of the music store accepted my request of giving me a discount, and I purchased it with the subsidy money, and that was my first proper guitar. The blue one is my trophy from a music store in Tokyo during a trip. It is a Japanese brand with Chinese manufacturer with quit nice quality. Its shape is inspired by Fender Telecaster, which just like the Les Paul, if you put the weight on the back of the guitar, your ribcage won’t be very comfy. The amps are Marshall and Yamaha, I put em like this cuz it looks kinda cool and it saves place.
